Trauma-informed workplaces are committed to continued reflection, evaluation, and reform to offer safe, supportive environments in which we can live, learn, and create. Spaces that utilize trauma-informed performance practices have mental health support, communicate shared values, and offer flexibility, autonomy, and collaboration. Emma is inspired by her mother — who is a social worker, and her father — who is a pharmacist specializing in addictions treatment, to prescribe tenets of care through her artistic practice.

Emma served as a TIPP consultant for the workshop of Kyle Briscoe's opera A Songbook for Survivors, as part of Opera McGill's Horizons Projects. In this process, Emma provided education on mental health, a care bin, a system of check-ins for rehearsals, facilitated value alignment, and delivered audience resources.
